Only with a positive evaluation of the blog it will be possible to submit it during the public proof that will be performed on January 17, 2013. Many of the posts linked in the Hyperblog Index are still incomplete: this is an invitation to finish the work. Rules for the exams are contained in a previous post.

Ten Things

To remenber the ten objects shown in the ten lectures, here is a picture with their immaterial presence. For a better memory of the topics see the Lectures Timetable.

The club, the bottle, the vacuum cleaner, the toy, the shuttle, the bicycle (derailleur), the clock, the fabric (felt), the garbage, the coffee machine, ... and the solid memory.

Something about garbage

A concept map

Before the preparation of the final text, for telling the Story of the Thing, on the basis of the found materials and with the connections (links) to the blog posts, it is necessary to prepare a concept map that reveals the cipher used to present the work done.

A concept map (mappa concettuale), as that proposed in this blog, is a graph that shows the 5-7 basic concepts around which the investigation can be developed. The connections between the concepts give evidence to the relationship among the focal points, and will be used to develop the final text.
A suggestion for the identification of the "names" for the concepts is:

- select abstract nouns
- select object nouns
- select attributes (characteristics, colours, ...)
- select people names
- select geographic places
- select a series of images
- select a series of books
- ...

e.g.
  • Postcard: greetings, places, travels, notification, advertisement, travel report,...
  • Electric bulb: Edison (the enterprise), Cruto (the inventor), Edy (the fantasy), Picabia (the Dada art), Marenco (the music of the progress), Philips (the industry),...
  • Bottle: Coke, Milk, Water, Poison, Sins (Pandora's bottle)
  • Bottle: red, white, blue, green, black
  • Playing cards: Ace, the Queen of Hearts, the Joker, 7 of diamonds, 2 of clubs, the Juggler (tarot)
  • Key: to open, to protect, to consolidate (an arch), to tune (an instrument), to upload (a clock)

Cose sovietiche -

Garbage Collection

In computer science, garbage collection (GC) is a form of automatic memory management. The garbage collector, or just collector, attempts to reclaim garbage, or memory occupied by objects that are no longer in use by the program. Garbage collection was invented by John McCarthy around 1959 to solve problems in Lisp.

Garbage Proverbs

Chi rompe paga e i cocci... nelle spazzatura.

Garbage in, garbage out.
